Human Responsibility

Human responsibility is the accountability people have to respond to God's revealed will and to answer for their choices. It includes responsibility to believe, repent, obey, and turn from sin when God makes his will known.

Expanded explanation

Scripture speaks to people as responsible responders. God commands, warns, invites, judges, forgives, and calls people to repent and believe. These appeals make sense as more than descriptions of actions that could never have been otherwise. God's sovereignty remains the foundation of responsibility, not its enemy. People do not become responsible by becoming self-sufficient. They are responsible because the Creator has made them, revealed his will, and graciously provided what is needed to answer him.

Context

Context

Responsibility should be considered alongside God's revelation, judgment, mercy, hardening, and grace. A statement that people are responsible does not by itself resolve every question about freedom, and a philosophical definition of freedom should not be treated as though it were a direct quotation from Scripture.
