All Christians should affirm that there are mysteries of God that we can not explain. For if God was small enough for us to fully understand, then would he be big enough for us to Worship?

A perfect example of this is His nature of the Trinity. How one being can be three persons. For us as human beings are simply one person within one being, but the Godhead is one being yet three persons. This is a perfect example of how we rely on this being a mystery that we know to have faith in and that we do not understand.

What a Mystery is not, is to be used as a figurative "Get out of Jail Free" card whenever one has formulated a false doctrine with inconsistencies and illogical conclusions. For one does not say that 2+2 = 4 and 2+2 also equals 5 and then says it is a mystery and to simply trust it.

The Calvinist is all too familiar with such atrocities, the most egregious, as an example, is saying how God alone dictates all things to come to pass, including murder, adultery, rape, human trafficking, and every other sinful horror of mankind's doing and then also says God wouldn't be sinning if he was the author. (James 1:13) There response is that this is a Mystery of God and yet affirm this reasoning anyways.

Woe to you who call God the arbiter of such atrocities, for these things did not even enter his Mind (Jeremiah 19:5) and yet you call him the author. You will NOT be shielded by the "Mystery of God" on the day of judgment. Your accusations are a deterrent to the lost and a stumbling block to those who look to you as a shepherd. The blood of those who have fallen away will be on your hands, take heed to not slander your God and wreak havoc on the souls under your care as casualties of your own insolence!
