Calvinist writers summarize Total Depravity in different ways. Some definitions say little more than that every person is a sinner, guilty before God.

When Jesus explained the new birth to Nicodemus, He reached for one of the strangest images in the Old Testament: "as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life" (

Real definition: God's choice of an individual, group or nation to perform some task or service to Him, such as Abraham becoming the father of many nations whose seed God would use to bless the whole world. Calvinist definition: God's choice of individuals to be regenerated to go from unbelievers to believers, to the neglect of everyone else, whom God created specifically to burn forever to glorify Himself somehow...

All Christians should affirm that there are mysteries of God that we can not explain. For if God was small enough for us to fully understand, then would he be big enough for us to Worship?

A perfect example of this is His nature of the Trinity. How one being can be three persons. For us as human beings are simply one person within one being, but the Godhead is one being yet three persons. This is a perfect example of how we rely on this being a mystery that we know to have faith in and that we do not understand.

If God does not draw all, isn't that quite an excuse that contradicts Romans 1:20? Wouldn't the excuse clearly be "I did not come because I was not drawn?"

If God is Deterministic and causes all things, good and Evil. How does that mesh with Jeremiah 19:5 and James 1:13?

For a synopsis of God's plan, as I have stated, that "All Men" means NOT Just Jews but gentiles too, and does not mean "every single person" read Isaiah 49. The "Servant" who is Jesus is called "Israel.' HE is the ONLY true Israel! And only IN HIM is ANY person "Israel." Which is why Paul says "Not all who are Israel are Israel... ..In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring." (Romans 9) And who is it that the Servant, Israel, Jesus, will save?

In many ways, the reformation brought about many good things, in particular the 5 solas. Do not mistake our rejection of Calvinism to mean we cast aside anything to do with the reformation.
